Introduction - New Teacher Training Video

Debbie Guedry has been teaching for more than thirty years and is currently an instructor at LSU College of Education. She has a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education and Masters in Curriculum and Instruction. Debbie is also a Certified Reading Specialist. Ten years ago she developed a community partnership between Louisiana State University and the East Baton Rouge Parish School System to train new teachers. Her participation in this partnership has allowed her to spend over 4000 hours in classrooms observing first-year teachers. During that time she identified a list of practical basic skills that every new teacher needs to know to help insure their success. In our 32 segment New Teacher Know How video series, Debbie describes these skills. The segments are divided into 5 categories. Room Arrangement, Discipline, Lesson Delivery, Working With Parents, and Procedures and Routines. We have posted the all the videos in the Room Arrangement category. Other categories will follow.
